Antica Barbieria Colla: a Milanese icon since 1904

The history of Antica Barbieria Colla is rooted in the heart of Italian tradition. For more than a century, it has been a point of reference in the art of classic barbering.

Founded in 1904, the Bottega was created to offer a service of excellence, grounded in craftsmanship, personal care and attention to detail.

From the outset, the barbershop has retained a strong and distinctive identity, handed down through generations by those who understood how to preserve its character and enhance its prestige. It is this continuity, shaped by passion and rigour, that has made Antica Barbieria Colla a defining address for traditional barbering in Milan.

The historic barbershop

Dino Colla and Guido Mantovanini

Founder Dino Colla led the business from 1904 to 1949 with dedication and a pioneering spirit, laying the foundations for a tradition that would endure. Although he was not himself a barber, his entrepreneurial vision placed the Bottega ahead of its time: a discreet setting created for men and devoted to personal care.

He was succeeded by Guido Mantovanini, who led the Bottega from 1949 to 1975 and consolidated its reputation, establishing it as an increasingly authoritative address in the city.

Franco Bompieri

From 1975 to 2018, Franco Bompieri was a central figure in the development of the Barbieria. A master barber and accomplished writer, through his work he helped promote and champion the culture of classic Italian barbering.

Under his stewardship, Antica Barbieria Colla strengthened its symbolic importance and its bond with Milan, thanks also to the genuine and enduring relationship he built with a diverse clientele, made up of both distinguished figures and loyal regulars, who over time made the Barbieria a symbol of style and identity.

Francesca Bompieri

Since 2019 the Barbieria has been led by Francesca Bompieri, Franco’s daughter, who has brought tradition and innovation together with a measured sense of balance. Under her direction the Bottega has consolidated its Method and strengthened its international profile.

Her vision also gave rise to the first line of men’s grooming products signed by Antica Barbieria Colla, bringing to market the formulas long used in the Bottega’s treatments, a direct expression of the experience acquired over more than a century of activity.

Today, Antica Barbieria Colla is internationally recognised as a historic barbershop and a symbol of artisanal excellence and Made in Italy.

A place where tradition lives on, evolving without losing its identity.
